Medical University – Pleven, one of the five medical universities in Bulgaria, was established in 1974. It was the first university in Bulgaria to introduce an English-taught program in Medicine. The University consists of 3 faculties – Medicine, Public Health, and Health Care as well as a Medical College.
Today, combining traditions of the past with the present possibilities, it incorporates educational and therapeutic facilities, contemporary pre-clinical based. University Hospital has more than 1000 beds and clinics in all major medical fields. Medical University has a large number of specialized clinics and research units with modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. These are efficiently used to treat patients, train students, trainee doctors, post-graduates as well as for research work. The Medical University – Pleven qualifications are automatically valid in all EU/EEA countries and are recognized all over the world.
About Medical Degree:
- Full Duration is 6 years and teach in English
- 2 years of pre-clinical study, 3 years of clinical study, and one year of state clinical practice.
- The first two years focus on pre-clinical study and theory, an overview of fundamental sciences, and a general understanding of biological, chemical, and physical sciences applicable to the practice of medicine.
- In the 3rd year, the program is concentrated more on a clinical study.
- Summer practical internships are compulsory in years two, three, and four of the program.
- All course work is aligned to European Union requirements.
- Students who complete the full course of studies and pass the State Assessment Examinations obtain a worldwide recognized Medical Doctor’s degree and the professional qualification of Physician (Doctor of Medicine).
- Students have the chance to continue with their chosen specialization in Bulgaria or return to their home country or anywhere around the world to continue their practice.
Admission:
Students have to submit with the following instructions:
- Fill up the application with proper instructions with CV
- A secondary school certificate including results. The certificate should be translated into Bulgarian and authorized at the Bulgarian embassy (required subjects: Biology and Chemistry).
- Document issued by a competent body certifying your eligibility to continue your education at university.
- Medical certificate – no earlier than a month prior to applying
- 6 recent photographs (passport format)
- Entry test in Biology and Chemistry
- English language proficiency certificate – for non-native speakers
- Copy of international passport.
Minimum of Living Expenses:
300 Euro per month
( Food, hostel, private rental apartment, a room in a private apartment, student travel card)
